Armigami, AKA “The Shawl That Does Not Fall,” is the fashion creation of two local sisters, Jocelyn Weinzimmer of River North and Joan Pavalon of Deerfield. “I always find the need to have an extra layer to put on or take off so that I can stay comfortable throughout the day yet still look fashionable,” Weinzimmer says, explaining that she turned to her sister for help with putting buttons on a wrap so she wouldn’t need to pin it in place. “As we began to play with button placement and different materials, we realized how many different ways we could transform one wrap into the perfect accessory,” she says. With a patent-pending design, the Armigami shawl can be used as a scarf, sleeve, skirt, cover-up or top. The sisters say it can be folded and reshaped like origami. Their wraps—sold in boutiques nationwide as well as on the Armigami website, with prices from $64 to $140—come in a variety of colors, patterns and fabrics.
